Sofia Gillani ‘Vulnerability‘ Single Review

Avent pop singer/ songwriter Sofia Gillani describes her sound and artistry as “unafraid, bold and adventurous” (Overblown, 2025), and her latest single ‘Vulnerability’ reinforces those qualities. Having previously experimented with a garage production on ‘Read Your Mind,’ Sofia continues to push her artistic vision as she utilises an electric, pop production on ‘Vulnerability.’

Halfway through the song, hi-hats introduce a beat switch which takes a slight trap turn before building up to the chorus again.  Sofia’s beautiful vocals contrast effortlessly over the punchy beat. This interplay mirrors the concept behind the song, which focuses on the inevitability of hurting and being able to heal simultaneously. Sofia notes that this exchange reduces the fear of being vulnerable and instead is empowering. Her lyrics, ‘I believe I opened up to me,’ reiterate feelings of self-love, reflection and emotional growth, both personally and as an artist. The introspective nature of the song highlights vulnerability as the transformative power of embracing difficult yet profoundly human experiences, and how they open the mind and heart. Sofia’s creativity is on full display in ‘Vulnerability,’ while delivering a message of emotional growth. The singer’s exciting momentum this year has displayed her creative versatility, her consistency, and dedication to her craft.
