OCTOBER PICKS: ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR

GREENTEA PENG

Greentea Peng is a South London singer and songwriter best known for her ability to intertwine RnB, Neo-Soul, Alternative and Reggae across her discography. As a result, Greentea Peng remains in a continuous explorative state. She’s alluring, mysterious and compelling, and her latest album, TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY (2025) reiterates those qualities. Her sound and style are both spiritual and mind-altering. The psychedelic edge makes the album gripping and unpredictable. She experiments with the instrumentation on tracks like ‘One Foot’ and ‘Nowhere Man,’ while her feathery light voice is the most consistent feature on the album. On slower tracks like ‘Green’, the rawness of her vocals evokes a sense of spirituality while elevating the track.  Early influences include Lily Allen, Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, all of which are sprinkled across the album. Greentea Peng has an undeniable range while creating an almost psychedelic R&B sound.
